‘Sterling trial is CIA damage control over “stupid” Iran plot’

Despite what government prosecutors are claiming, CIA whistleblower Jeffrey Sterling went through proper channels to raise concerns over the spy agency’s “stupid and dangerous” plan to give flawed nuclear schematics to Iran, according to journalist and activist Norman Solomon. Speaking to RT outside of the Virginia courthouse where federal authorities are trying to convict Sterling of espionage for disclosing the details of “Operation Merlin” to New York Time’s journalist James Risen, the prominent government transparency advocate said that the CIA’s persecution of the whistleblower is merely damage control for a tarnished agency.
