Solidarity with Remi Fraisse: French Students Voice Anger at Continued Police Brutality

Press TV | Nov 6, 2014

People’s anger against the killing of an eco-activist at the hands of French police is still felt across France. Now, students have barricaded the entrance to schools to protest police brutality.

The action led to the closure of dozens of schools across Paris. The protest has been held in a show of solidarity with Remi Fraisse, a 21-year-old environmentalist who was killed by police last week. Fraisse had attended a demonstration demanding an end to a controversial dam project in southern France. Remi was killed by police when the protest turned violent. His death triggered outcry across France and finally forced local authorities to suspend the project.
