US created ISIL proxy army to control Middle East

The United States has long funded militant groups in the Middle East, including more recently ISIL, into “proxy armies” to eliminate governments that “don’t do US bidding,” says an analyst.

“The US’ No.1 objective in the Middle East is the elimination of governments that don’t do US bidding, Syria and Iran, and toward that, they have a long history of funding proxy armies,” Joe Iosbaker, a leader of the United National Antiwar Coalition, told Press TV on Monday.

“This summer, the largest of their proxy armies became a threat to the government that the US has more influence on, the new government of Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in Iraq,” Iosbaker said, referring to the ISIL group, which made swift advances in northern and western Iraq over the summer.

“Now, in a war that is more for public relations than anything else, the US is striking these armies that they created,” he said.

Speaking on the origin of the Khorasan Group-- a shadowing terrorist group in Syria described by US intelligence as the most serious threat to the homeland-- Iosbaker said the whole thing is a “cover” created by the US.

“There is evidence that this name is an invention of the United States and that the US recent airstrikes on the Khorasan Group were actually strikes on fighters of the al-Nusra Front,” he added.

FBI Director James Comey said Sunday that the United States was preparing for an imminent attack by the Khorasan Group.

“Director Comey’s claim will create fear among people. They will be afraid to speak up when attacks on our democratic rights are carried out,” Iosbaker said.

On September 23, Army Lt. Gen. William C. Mayville Jr., the Pentagon’s director for operations, said the Khorasan Group was nearing "the execution phase of an attack either in Europe or the homeland."

Mayville said the Khorasan Group has been trying to recruit people in the US as operatives, adding that the US and other Western countries were the primary target of the group not the Syrian government.

“The terror scare in US for the past thirteen years has had one main purpose, to serve as a cover for the war on the Palestinian and Arab and Muslim communities here in the US and their oppression of dissent,” Iosbaker noted.
