INfocus - Donetsk people demand end to violence

PRESS TV | Jul 8, 2014 | CHANNEL

As Ukraine's army operations rage on to retake control of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, witnesses say civilian populations demand an end to the ongoing crisis.

"We are hardworking people...," "We ask for peace," "We address the whole world," "Our children don't want war," say the local residents of the city of Donbass in Donetsk region.

Valery Bolotov, the head of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, says Kiev's fighter jets "intentionally" bomb residential houses in eastern regions.

"You are not allowed to use military force against your own people... It's just a genocide against its (Ukraine's) own people" says Alexander, a local resident of Donetsk whose neighboring house was destroyed in an airstrike by the Ukrainian army.
