U-S whistleblower Edward Snowden and prominent reporter Glenn Greenwald are warning about the depth of America's spying activities.

Snowden and Greenwald, the journalist who helped the whistle blower leak mass U-S surveillance, appeared via video link at a human rights meeting. The event in Chicago was organized by Amnesty International. The pair cautioned that the U-S government is not only eavesdropping on phone calls or reading emails. They said the National Security Agency is also monitoring metadata which includes more information like time, duration, as well the origination and destination of the calls. They also stressed the importance of a free press willing to scrutinize government activity.
