Police spending in the US now comes in at $100 billion annually, even though crime has been trending downwards. While police forces continue to advocate for increased spending, critics say that the drop in crime cannot be directly attributed to more funding and the "militarization" of local police forces. Critics also point out that it is now more likely for an American citizen to be killed by police than by a terrorist.

In 2012, 410 Americans were killed by police, while 10 were killed by terrorism. Ameera David examines these figures and more with RT's Ramon Galindo.
